ABOUT SUNNYDAZE LABRADORS
The Labrador Adventure!
SUNNYDAZE LABRADORS is a small hobby kennel established in 1987 and located in Bellingham, Washington. We are active in conformation shows and hunt tests. Currently we live with 3 adult Labradors and two pups under 1 year of age. We generally never have more than 6 dogs living with us.
My adventure in Labradors started with a lovely pet quality girl, Jena, Lindy's Cognac Au Cocoa WC, JH, Am/Can CD. She was of field trial lineage and a wonderful dog, but quite active. We were successful in the field and obedience ring, but didn't get very far in the show ring. After watching the fun in the conformation ring I was bitten by the bug and had to get a dog I could compete with there as well.
I acquired my first
traditional type English show Labrador from Nina Mann,
Harbortop. It is simply amazing the friendships you make through this wonderful
breed. Can CH Harbortop Rockmeadow Dawn WC, CD came to live with us when she was three years old. We had fun getting titles and showing. She is the foundation for almost all the dogs I have residing here at the kennel now.
When we breed a litter of puppies we do so for ourselves in hopes of producing our future show prospects. All of our puppies are born and raised in a home environment. They get lots of attention and socialization. The pups we have available for sale go to selected homes who desire a healthy family companion. They are vaccinated and wormed before leaving us as well as micro chipped with AVID-Friend Chip. With this microchip your puppy is eligible for registration with AVID's PETtrac recovery system. PETtrac is a global recovery network dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their people.
All of our breeding stock are certified for hip and elbow joint soundness through OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). All our dogs have their eyes examined by a Board Certified Ophthalmologist on an annual basis. This exam is then registered through CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation). All of our puppies are sold on AKC Limited Registration which we can change to full registration once we have discussed the reasons for the change and appropriate health clearances have been done.
We feed exclusively PurinaŽ Pro PlanŽ Dog and Puppy Foods. Every puppy goes to their new home with a PurinaŽ Pro PlanŽ Puppy Starter Kit. Correct Labrador TYPE and temperament are top priority in our breeding program. Since we are first and foremost breeding for ourselves we desire to produce Labradors with the correct breed type. Temperament is also of utmost importance and one of the hallmarks of the Labrador breed. The majority of our puppies go to family homes with children so temperament must remains right up there with breed type. We believe that not only should a Labrador look like a Labrador, but it should act like a Labrador in your home, in the field and in your duck blind. A true Labrador should NEVER show aggression.
