Labradors From Across The Pond

Imports From The Kupros Kennel

The first Kupros dog I ever saw was a photograph of Eng. CH Kupros Master Mariner, Bracken.  As I learned more about him he was not only a lovely dog to look at he was also a great working gundog from a working gundog kennel.  Bracken had it all, looks, style, intelligence and instinct.  He consistently passed it onto his offspring, to date he has produced 36 Champions world wide, 15 of them in England.  He was Dog World's top stud dog for 6 years, I don't know the years exactly, but he was top stud dog again for 1998, two years after he died.  You will find Eng CH Kupros Master Mariner in many English pedigrees.

My first personal experience with a Labrador from the Kupros kennel was with Am/Int CH Kupros Marshall, Bracken's brother from a repeat mating.  I have never met a more biddable and intelligent dog.  He knew what you wanted before you even asked him.  Not only was Marshall a Champion in the show ring he was a Champion in the field.  Although he didn't have the titles at the end of his name he was definitely a working gundog until his final year at age 13.  At this seasoned age Marshall couldn't hear very well anymore and he wasn't as quick as he used to be but he still brought in his share of ducks the fall before he passed in 1998.  With my acquaintance of Marshall came a friendship of a lifetime with his owner Marion Painter, Tidewater Labradors.

My first litter by Marshall was out of my Int. CH Sunnydaze Delta Dawn.  I was so pleased with the puppies that I repeated that mating and also bred Delta's sister Sara to Marshall.  The temperaments, type and working ability convinced me that when I decided to import from England my dogs had to come from the Kupros kennel.  I waited several years, as the Kupros kennel does not breed often.  I imported Can CH Kupros Lancelot as a puppy in 1996.  In May 1998 I imported his litter sister Kupros Lady Marina and cousin Can CH Kupros Faith.  Along with acquiring these dogs I developed a very special friendship with Peter & Marion Hart, they are the dearest people I will ever know and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for letting me have these grand dogs.

With much sadness, in May 1999 Peter Hart was taken from us by cancer.  He is deeply missed and I am reminded of him daily as I look into the smiling faces of the dogs he produced and allowed me to own.

Imported From Warringah Kennel

In February 2000 I was given the opportunity to import a very nice young chocolate dog from David &
Carole Coode, Warringah Kennel.  He is named Waringah's Warrah Creek , call name Rah.  With him to the U.S. came one other lovely Warringah Labrador a black bitch now residing with Nina Mann, Harbortop Labradors.  Nina Mann made the long treck to England on a four day trip to bring home our crew.

Very sadly we lost our Rah on December 31, 2003 to Lymphoma.  Though he was with us for only a short time he brought us much joy and left us with some remarkable offspring.  He is sadly missed.
