HAPPY PUPPIES, HAPPY PUPPY OWNERS!

The companionship of a Labrador Retriever is hard to beat.

Over the  years we have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people who have opened their arms, laps and hearts to our Labradors.  Our dogs have had the privilege to live and be loved by these wonderful people and families.  Several of these wonderful homes have returned to us for a second or third Labrador.

Here are just a few of the emails that we love to get and that makes what we do so rewarding.

(If you see your statement below and wish it to be removed please let me know.  If you'd like to add to our little "good doggie" bulletin board please send us an email).

Thank you Linda and Hugh for our newest sweet girl "Rosie".  She is truly a gem.  We have been so lucky to have our third Sunnydaze dog.  (Sorry Hugh, but it was truly a love affair between Bill and Rosie-love at first sight).  Our first girl, Dayzee was an amazing dog and I thought truly irreplaceable.  One of those once in a lifetime dogs.  Then came Daisy 2 aka Sneakers who brought a bright spark to our lives with her energetic, game, and loving nature.  Both perfect family dogs.  Once Dayzee crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I promised Sneakers that she would be an only dog.  Told her it was her right as the elderly lady of the house.  But I lied. Bill and the boys had fallen in love with this little puppy who wasn't available- until now.  Rosie moved into our house, took over the kids bean bag chair, convinced the cat she was ok, and even managed to win over Sneakers which was no small feat.  She makes us laugh everyday.  You would be so proud of her.  The boys were "training" her today. Rosie sat, lied down, and stayed for the boys (ages 8 and 5).  It was so cute watching her listen to them and doing what she was told to do.  Thank you for the opportunity to have another one of your lovely Labradors.

Lots of love and hugs,
Dana, Bill, Gordon and Glenn

Dear Linda,

I really don't think there are words to say how thankful I am for ever finding you and getting my first Labrador retriever puppy from you!  It all began more than 13 years ago when I got my beautiful black lab puppy named Sunnydaze Queen of Sheba.  Sheba is such a wonderful dog and has brought so much joy, not only into my life, but into the lives of many others.  We would go for walks, hikes, snowshoeing, to the dog park, obedience classes - you name it.  We did it.  We even tried our hand at a couple dog obedience shows.  Not so good there but still provided many funny memories.  It is also through Sheba that I have some of my dearest friends.  Sheba had her moments - like when my roommates and I couldn't remember what happened to the loaf of banana bread and finally realized that Sheba had eaten the whole thing!  Then there was the time Sheba ate a half a tennis ball, a cow hoof, an eraser, and the innards of a ball point pen. That resulted in sneaking her into an unnamed nearby hospital x-ray room while my roommates (who just so happened to be x-ray techs) took some photos.  Just what the vet needed in order to "cure what ailed her".  Crazy dog.  I love her to pieces though!

As Sheba grew older it became clear to me that I did not want to be dogless in Seattle!  I also knew that I would not get another puppy from anyone but you.  So, I signed up for a pup and ended up with a beautiful chocolate lab puppy named Sunnydaze Princess Phoebe Nicole Dunn.  At this point, Sheba is 10 years old.  Suddenly her calm world had been rocked and would never be the same again!  Phoebe, who is fondly called "UPS" (based on the commercial that says "what has Brown done for you lately?"), is a HANDFUL!!  She is one big bundle of energy but so darn cute I could never get too mad.  We've repaired walls, replaced carpet, lost a few dvd's and had LOTS of laughs.  Phoebe absolutely loves Sheba and follows her everywhere.  It  became quite apparent that when it was Sheba's time to go, Phoebe was not necessarily going to do so well being an only dog.  So, being the planner I am, I thought I better sign up for yet another puppy.  Then came the word that you had gotten back a two year old female chocolate lab.  Hmmm. this could be just the ticket - avoid the puppy stage and save a few bucks in various repair bills!  Hence comes along Sunnydaze Princess Hannah.

Hannah is truly the sweetest dog and has made her way into my heart.  She is a great playmate for Phoebe and a huge relief for Sheba, who is no longer pestered all the time by Phoebe.  Hannah has settled in as if she has lived here all her life.  As I would expect from any Sunnydaze dog, she has the best personality.  I am so very glad she has come to live with us.  I know that she too will be the source of many fond memories and much joy.

Thank you Linda for breeding such wonderful dogs.  I love all of my girls so much and my life (as well as many others!) is so much fuller as a result of having them in it.  I am very blessed and I thank you so much for these sweet "kids".  Thay are the best ... and so are you!  Thank you from the very bottom of my heart.

With deep grattitude,
Sue, Queen Sheba, Princess Phoebe and Princess Hannah - of The House of Labs!

We are absolutely besotted with our Abby (now ~1 1/2)... she's such a part of our family, and gets too many kisses and hugs every day...

once again, thank you so much for such a great family pet-- we truly love her.  She gets so many compliments as to her wonderful personality and gentle nature...
All the best to you and your new family love from the Andersons :)

You know, when we go to the dog park and call him, he's like the only dog there that actually listens. Some of it is training, yes (thank B. Bishop for her amazing wisdom), but he obviously comes from good stock.  Everyone who meets him says he is the best dog ever and oh man -- I think you should double your prices because he is priceless; hands down the most obedient, loving, mellow dog I've ever known -- and I've met a lot.  He doesn't have any of the so-called annoying Labrador traits -- he doesn't dig, chew on furniture, bite, disobey, or bark.  The other morning he threw up a couple of legs from the chew toy he had eaten earlier that day but I guess that's just what doggies do sometimes ... he's just an amazing, amazing pet, and so gorgeous to boot!  Walking around with him is like walking around with Tom Cruise, everyone has to stop and comment -- which inflates his ego: I think he gets offended when someone doesn't want to pet him hehe. What an amazing addition to our family.  I think he needs a little brother ... any dark chocolate or black lab litters coming up soon? Best, Anthony and Katie

Hello.  Boomer is a very smart boy.  He is getting it right away.  He is pretty much potty trained, we still have a few accidents, but I am sure they are my fault.  We are bell training him, so that should help.  He tries to ask me to go outside, but he is really quiet so sometimes I don't hear him, and then its too late.  We just got pergo floors put in upstairs, so now our whole house has pergo or wood, so accidents are not as bad as before.  I get compliments on how beautiful he is, and several breeders and owners of Goldens love him.  They say he is well bred and gorgeous.  I am glad I was referred to you, we could not have asked for a better dog.  Thank you.  I will keep you posted on his success.  Talk to you soon, Cameron

My name is Kyle and my parents purchased an all black female puppy for me, from your kennel, that was born in a litter 10 years ago this month.  I regret to inform you that she just passed away last Sunday in my arms.  I loved her VERY VERY much and because of this my heart is severely broken.

I'm writing to you today to express my gratitude to you for sending me such an amazing animal.  Sunnydaze Black Magic "Sunny" was a gift for me on my 15th birthday.  I must admit that I was a little apprehensive about raising a puppy as I was very young myself.  However, in preparation to this responsibility I read some books (one that was recommended by you) that increased my knowledge of the subject.  When the day came for me to pick her up from the airport I was extremely nervous.  I vividly remember sticking my hand in her crate and wondering to myself "is she going to bite me?"  She looked just as nervous as I was.  However, when I heard her tail bang against the side of her crate, I knew we were going to be the best of friends.

Since that time my dad and I had the pleasure of raising her into the magnificent dog that she became.  As I grew up along side her, my dad and I trained her to hunt water foul as well as upland birds.  We have a lot of very fond memories of hunting trips we took with her.  It is without a doubt much more fun to hunt with a dog when it isn't just a dog, but a member of your family.  However, hunting was only one small aspect of her life that she excelled at.  She was also a beautiful dog , very intelligent, very caring, very sensitive, a loyal companion, and mentally very tough.

Sadly, I had to move away to attend college and I wasn't able to be with her every day for the last four years.  I did come home whenever I could to see my parents and her. Inevitably, she was always at the door waiting to greet me with a tail that she wagged so hard I thought it was going to come right off of her behind.  When I was home I told her that as soon as I was done with college that I was going to take her with me where ever I ended up.  I am now finishing my last semester of my masters program and was very much looking forward to living with her again when God decided that it was time for her to go home.

I will very much miss hunting with her, but also miss how she laid on my feet and how she would snore so loudly that I couldn't sleep.  I will miss scratching her belly, scratching her armpits, playing tag in the backyard with her, hiking with her, and watching her swim and retrieve.  I will miss all of the cute things that she would do, such as carrying her bowl around the house when she was hungry and how she would lay her head in my lap and look up at me with those adorable eyes.  As my birthday again comes and goes, I will miss her help opening my gifts.  Most of all, I will miss the love, companionship, and joy she gave to me day-in and day-out.

In closing I wish to thank you once again for a dog that will forever hold a special place in my heart. If you have ever breed any dogs that were even close to the caliber that Sunny was I hope that you will continue your breeding practices for a long time to come, because you have brought a lot of joy to people's lives.

Sincerely,

Kyle

I have numerous friends up here in the Vancouver area with dogs from Linda, and we think we are a very lucky bunch. I have also assisted several other people with their new puppies in the beginning stages, which is very important. All our dogs are easy, and very special personalities. I admire them for their ease of trainability, they are biddable in every sense of the word. Their personalities are amazing, fun filled, self confident and at the same time very humble, get along with everything and everyone, sense of humour, healthy. Although a lot of people will tell you their Labradors have a life expectancy of 12 years, I think if you make all the right choices for them in their life you stand an excellent chance of exceeding this. My experiences to date have been in excess of 12 years, including my Delta and her brother Chappy. Linda does a great job with her puppies, they have been exposed to farm animals, house pets, children, motor vehicles, dog shows and regular physical handling over the years. What comes out in the end is very enjoyable and reliable.  I firmly believe these dogs are born perfect, they are so easy to live with.  Linda has been breeding, training, showing and competing in hunt for a long time and is very knowledgeable in all manners from health to carrying a duck home. You are in good hands with her, and consider yourself lucky to be able to acquire one of these very special puppies. I have known Linda for 15 years, and I know her dogs from the very beginning. My next one will be from her also, no contest-hands down. She has ultimate respect in her community, if you were to contact other breeders you would hear this.  Anne.

Hi Linda,
I was just thinking about you the other day.  Bronte is such a great dog!!  Even our schnauzer loves her.  And she hates everybody!

We have had so much fun with Bronte and so thoroughly love her.  She sleeps IN our daughter's bed and loves to go for rides.  She pretty much loves everybody and everything!  What a wonderful dog.

Hi, Linda;
Just thought I'd say hello and let you know we're having a blast with Abby... she's so much fun, and gives us many laughs each day...
We had a great visit with Ann Jackson, what a great idea to have her into our home, get some input, ideas, suggestions etc.  She referred us to a great vet, and we're very pleased with how everything is working out... we'll be going to her puppy class beginning November.
Housetraining isn't a breeze, that's for sure... but she's definitely getting better, waiting longer etc. She still sleeps all night, loves to eat and is full of beans!
Ann said how she thought Abby was a beautiful example of a Labrador, and how you have such great dogs-- she thinks a lot of you, Linda!
Also, our vet thought Abby was socialized wonderfully!
Thanks again,

Dutch is learning very quickly.  He is watching my older dog and emulating.  He is coming when called.  I got him some pheasant wings yesterday and he was very
excited about them.  He is also almost housebroken, with very few incidents. This morning I went out to get the paper with the boys.  My Beau usually carries
up one of the papers.  Dutch grabbed part of the paper and proceeded to proudly carry it up the whole 400 foot driveway.
We are so happy to have him in our family.

Millie is the sweetest dog I have ever had. I take her to my office with me in the spring and summer an she loves it. She loves people. She is a very gentle dog and treats small dogs well.

Linda,

How have you been doing?  I just wanted to give you an update on our little boy you gave us a few years ago.

When you shipped him up to Soldotna, he fell right in with the environment and our family.  He loves the snow and is the "best" pet an owner could ever ask for.  He is great with people and other animals.  He is obedient and never causes problems (with the exception of swallowing socks) what so ever.  We love him very much and cannot thank you enough for "Rip".

He is a big boy with a huge barrel chest.  His coat is beautiful.  His tail is like a beaver and not an otter.  We love him and everyone else does as well.

We were cross-country skiing on the Kasilof river when my son through a rock over the ice towards the fast moving water in the center of the river.  Rip took off after the rock and slid in.  He was swept away with the current and we thought we lost him.  Somehow, he managed to grab a jagged shoreline and stop himself from going down the river and I hauled him out.  My knees went weak.  He does not like the water anymore.  I wish he could overcome that fear.
Thank you again for our family member.  He is always what the doctor ordered everyday.

With best regards,

Dean
